What should I do if the inkjet printer suddenly stops printing?

2024-06-24

Phenomenon:
When using PHOTOPRINT or MAINTOP software to print, the printing stops suddenly when a certain part is printed, but PHOTOPRINT or MAINTOP software still displays that information is being output. This phenomenon is more common in the following situations:
1. Large-format printing
2. High-precision printing such as 8PASS
3. Slow computer operation speed
4. Slow transmission speed of the computer's print port

Solution suggestions:

First, set the computer's print port to ECP print port. Printers that support ECP print ports are much faster than those that do not support ECP print ports. MIMAKI JV2-130 inkjet printer itself supports ECP function, so if the above phenomenon occurs, please check whether the computer has been set to use ECP print port. If not, please follow the following method to set it up: Now take AWARDBIOS as an example to introduce the setting method: Press DEL key to enter CMOS setting when the computer performs hardware self-test, enter INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS function option, and set PARALLEL PORT MODE to ECP (Note: it must be pure ECP, not EPP, SPP or ECP/EPP), * Save and exit BIOS setting, then the computer will restart, WINDOWS system will automatically detect ECP print port and install driver for it, then you can use the high-speed transmission performance provided by ECP print port.

Second, use IEEE1284 double-shielded ECP cable (recommended, not necessary) The length of the print cable is too long or the quality is poor, which will affect the correctness of data transmission, so we recommend using IEEE1284 double-shielded ECP cable with a length of less than 2 meters. In addition, when the printing is interrupted, first check whether the connectors at both ends of the printing cable are loose, because sometimes the vibration of the machine during operation may cause the wiring to loosen. At the same time, replacing other printing cables that can be used for replacement testing is also a common and effective detection method.

Third, turn off the computer's automatic power management function
Because the printing work takes a long time, during the printing process, most customers often let the computer automatically perform calculations and outputs without performing other operations. If the power management function is turned on, the hard disk or CPU will automatically stop running after a certain period of time, which will form the illusion that the information transmission has actually been terminated, but the software display is still transmitting. The method to turn off automatic power management is as follows:
1. Take AWARDDIOS as an example to introduce the setting method in CMOS: Press the DEL key to enter the CMOS setting when the computer is performing hardware self-test, enter the POWERMANAGEMENTSETUP function option, set the POWERMANAGEMENT to DISABLE, and then save and exit the BIOS setting.
2. To turn off the automatic power management function in the WINDOWS98 system, please do the following: "Start" > "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Power Management", set "Turn off the hard disk" to "Never".

Fourth, adjust some settings in PHOTOPRINT or MAINTOP software. Please do the following: "Edit" > "Settings" > "Output Devices" > "Settings" > "Communications", and then adjust the value of "NOTSELECTED" to "120". Extend the printer's timeout setting. Go to Edit > Settings > Output Devices > Settings > Communications and set Transmissionretry to 100 minutes.
